EMDR
Mind–Body experience

A 12-week trauma resolution experience combining evidence-based EMDR with skills training and body-based somatic support for deeper, more regulated processing. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps the brain safely reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. At the same time, somatic stabilization supports the nervous system in staying grounded and contained throughout the work.

12-week Mind–Body Experience

Trauma work is most effective when the nervous system feels safe enough to process. A 12-week minimum commitment is recommended. Many clients choose to continue beyond the initial phase to support deeper trauma resolution and nervous system integration.

Weeks 1–3: Somatic Awareness

Before memory reprocessing begins, we focus on building the internal capacity needed for EMDR to be effective and well-tolerated. During this phase, we may address:

  • dissociation and emotional shutdown

  • intellectualizing emotions instead of feeling them

  • difficulty naming feelings without judgment

  • chronic numbing or avoidance patterns

  • high-functioning coping that masks distress

  • mind–body disconnection that can block processing

Focus areas:

  • increase body awareness and present-moment safety

  • build grounding and containment skills

  • strengthen emotional tolerance

  • reduce emotional flooding risk

  • improve the ability to notice and name internal experiences

Weeks 4–12: EMDR & Somatic Integration

Once adequate stabilization is established, sessions shift into Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing of trauma memory supported by ongoing somatic regulation.

Focus areas:

  • safely reprocessing distressing memories

  • reducing the emotional intensity of past experiences

  • shifting negative core beliefs

  • strengthening adaptive coping

  • supporting nervous system regulation throughout

The somatic component helps the body integrate what the mind is processing.

Brandie Sanders, LMSW, is trained in EMDR through the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute and provides trauma-informed, attachment-aware care.

Sessions are thoughtfully paced and may include:

  • grounding and stabilization

  • vagus nerve and nervous system regulation

  • mindfulness-based support

  • paced trauma reprocessing

  • somatic integration for emotional containment

Your healing is never rushed — it is supported.
