Mindfulness is the foundation of all DBT skills. Teens will learn to focus on the present moment without judgment, helping them manage overwhelming emotions and make choices that align with their values.

Distress Tolerance

Life is full of challenges, and this module equips teens to cope effectively with difficult situations without resorting to harmful behaviors .

Interpersonal Effectiveness

“Build relationships that work.”

Healthy relationships are crucial during adolescence, and this module helps teens improve communication, set boundaries, and strengthen connections.

Emotion Regulation

​

“Understand and manage your feelings.”

Big emotions can feel overwhelming for teens. This module focuses on recognizing, labeling, and managing emotions so they can respond effectively instead of reacting impulsively.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help teens manage intense emotions, navigate relationships, and make thoughtful decisions under stress.

What to Expect?

Group Format: Six weeks of group Skills Sessions. (1) Mindfulness, (2) Distress Tolerance, (3) Interpersonal Effectiveness,  (4) Emotion Regulation, (6) Skill Acquisition, (5) Mindfulness.

Group Expectations: DBT skills groups are structured more like a class than a traditional therapy session. DBT skills groups include mindfulness exercises, homework assignments and reviews, and new skill teaching, and practice.

Group Rules: A commitment to attend all six weeks, maintain confidentiality, and be mindful and respectful of other group members. All adolescents must be willing participants and agree to the group rules.

Group Environment: There are 12 adolescent slots available. Sessions are virtual and cameras should not be off for more than 5 minutes at a time. Adolescents should be in a private environment free from distractions.
